About SGD

Sean Gallagher is a native of Georgia’s Lake Country, having been born and raised in Madison. He graduated from Morgan County High School and married another local, Debi Lawrence, during the time they attended Georgia College in Milledgeville. Sean and Debi have four children and continue to reside near Madison.

Before settling on kitchen and bath design, Sean tried his creative hand at several sectors of the building industry, including owning a remodeling firm. This gives him an extensive background in, and understanding of the entire building process. Sean designed and installed his first kitchen on Lake Oconee in 1997. Since then, he has spent his time honing his skills at kitchen design and installation. His handiwork can be seen in many of the finest homes on Lake Oconee, and throughout the Piedmont region of Georgia.

In designing a kitchen, Sean believes the key to a successful relationship with the client is listening first, suggesting later. The most unique and satisfying projects often begin with the client’s request for something that is under the radar of the kitchen and bath industry. In implementing clients' wishes that other designers labeled as crazy, Sean has been both challenged and rewarded. Rather than trying to leave the designer’s thumb print on every project, he has tried to make the projects bear the signatures of their owners. Even when working in the confines of a development's "model home" program, the designs are as varied as the homeowners.

Sean believes in the Golden Rule and tries to return some of the good will he has been blessed with. As an active member of his community, he has worn many hats through the years. He volunteered as a firefighter and first responder for 20 years with the Godfrey Volunteer Fire Department, leaving as Assistant Chief at the end of 2006 after being injured in the line of duty. He has taught Religious Education in various grade levels at St. James Catholic Church in Madison most of the last 20 years, where he also was the church’s first Youth Group director. He has also served as a volunteer in various capacities with Cub Scout Pack - Boy Scout Troop 91 since 1997. He has served in several leadership roles in various local non-profit organizations, including Lake Oconee Area Builders Association, and Lake Oconee Kiwanis, and is currently serving as Secretary for the Madison Museum of Fine Art, the Lake Country's only fine art museum.
